SunSmart / Rā Mataara

Check out our sunsmart / rā mataara resources.

Sunburn and too much exposure to the sun's ultraviolet radiation (UVR) during childhood and adolescence are the major causes of skin cancer later in life.

Children are at school when UVR levels are at their peak (September through to April, especially from 10.00am - 4.00pm).

What WAVE can do:

  • Support the SunSmart work that you are doing with the Cancer Society through the SunSmart Schools Programme
  • Share ideas that support your SunSmart practices
  • Work alongside the Cancer Society to promote SunSmart

Check out these two videos on how WAVE helped Rural Scholars Early Learning Centre incorporate being Sunsmart into their programmes.
