Sunburn and too much exposure to the sun's ultraviolet radiation (UVR) during childhood and adolescence are the major causes of skin cancer later in life.
Children are at school when UVR levels are at their peak (September through to April, especially from 10.00am - 4.00pm).
Check out these two videos on how WAVE helped Rural Scholars Early Learning Centre incorporate being Sunsmart into their programmes.
As an organiser of an event there are a few simple steps you can take to help protect your participants, staff and volunteers when UV levels are high. Use the following checklist for events held between September and March to help ensure your event is SunSmart.
